I Can’t Handle Cryo Chambers, But I Swear By the Skin Inc Cryo-Ice Tool—Review

TL;DR:

  • What it is: A facial tool
  • What it does: Gently massages and depuffs skin
  • Who it’s for: Anyone looking for a cooling facial tool that doesn’t require much manual labor

I’ve only been in a cryo ice chamber once in my life, and dear god, that was enough for me. Granted, I was only in there for two minutes, but I spent the entirety of those two minutes thinking my limbs were going to freeze and snap off. It wasn’t enjoyable! And it was cold!

But what is enjoyable is using this icy, handheld tool from Skin Inc on my face on early mornings, lazy days, and even nights when my skin needs a little TLC. The Cryo Ice wakes up puffy undereyes and temporarily tightens skin with its cooling aluminum plate.

When I want to use it (which is kind of always, TBH), I have to make sure I have at least 90 minutes of free time ahead of me. (Not ideal on weekday mornings, but on weekends, when my only plan is to walk around my neighborhood while listening to an audiobook, I’ll add it to the agenda.) The hour and a half is because, in order to get the full benefits of the tool, it needs to be chilled in the freezer ahead of time. Then you have to wait two minutes before actually using it because it will be very cold. Like, really, really cold.

Once the two minutes are up (and my skin is freshly cleansed), I’ll then gently press the silver end of the device onto my skin—starting at the neck and moving upward. I’ll keep doing this (focusing on my undereyes mostly) until the tool’s tip gets warm. The result is cooler, less puffy skin.

Skin Inc Cryo-Ice is in the April Allure Beauty Box.
